From Ore to Finish Product

SKU: SKU-159

From the mid 1800's through the 1960's some 400 mining companies operated on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The largest of these was Calumet and Hecla, and was the most profitable in the world. In 1899 alone, C&H paid dividends to its investors amounting to $10,000,000. In the early 1900's the company employed over 8,000 workers in the Copper Country. The film, Quality Control - From Ore to Finish Product, was produced in the 1940's and shows the copper mining process from deep shaft underground mining of ore to the final, finished product. Jack Foster, C&H historian, introduces this program and also gives an epilogue on the demise of Calumet and Hecla Mining Company.
